چکیده

This work presents a different use of COMSOL, not only as a simulation platform for engineering tasks, but also as an integrated component of a computational AI tool framework used to automate designs creation. CNS-Burst is a computational synthesis method used to create solutions to an assigned design task. This search method, iteratively applied, finds design alternatives and represents them as geometrical objects. In this context, COMSOL is integrated in the method and used to evaluate the performance of the design solutions found. Geometrical objects are transformed in COMSOL objects for analysis and simulations. In this work we have looked at case studies for which industry is interested in finding innovative solutions in a short timeframe. We also looked at a design field that could be accurately analysed using COMSOL. The design field here examined are MEMS. In particular, the case study chosen are sandwich resonators. This paper can be of interest not only to see how COMSOL has been used in this innovative academic project, but also to explore how MEMS design innovation is investigated.

Design of FIDT for 3D Analysis of MEMS Based Gas Sensor Using SAW Technology

As energy can neither be created nor be destroyed but can be transformed from one form to other form, depending on application. In some cases energy released/ absorbed in any reaction sometimes will alter the process parameters and cause disturbance in normal flow of operation. This effect has its impact even in fundamental wave propagation properties and results in introduction of unwanted noi...

Design of Ultrasonic Transducer MEMS Model for Distance Measurement using Multiphysics

The technique in artificial ultrasonic transducer using electronics is very bulky and power hungry. We switched over to ultrasonic Micro-Electronics Mechanical Systems (MEMS) which have shown significant importance for miniaturized mechanical system, based on silicon technology. MEMS based acoustic sensing transducers commonly employ the piezo-electric technology to interpret the received ultra...

COMSOL API based Toolbox for the Mixed-Level Modeling of Squeeze-Film Damping in MEMS: Simulation and Experimental Validation

We present an easy-to-use toolbox for the automated generation of reduced-order mixed-level models for the evaluation of squeeze-film damping in microelectromechanical systems. The toolbox is programmed in JAVA and heavily exploits the functionality provided by the COMSOL API. The results obtained from mixed-level model simulation performed in COMSOL Multiphysics agree very well with experiment...
